Holy Orders

year of the priest

Please pray for our priests and that their numbers may grow!

The Priesthood is perhaps the greatest gift that Christ gives to His Church.  Through these "ordinary" men God pours extraordinary grace.  Our priests make the sacraments possible and model for us the life of Christ.  We ask all men to consider the priesthood.  Pray about it and ask yourself if God is calling you to follow Him more deeply.  If you are thinking about priesthood,  our diocesan vocation director, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., has been looking for you. Visit the diocesan vocation website here http://www.gbdioc.org/vocations/diocesan-priesthood.html.  Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to discuss the life of a priest.

The Church is also in need of good, holy deacons to help the Church with her mission to proclaim the Gospel and serve the needy.  God may be calling you to a deeper service within the Church.  For information on the diaconate http://www.gbdioc.org/vocations/deacons.html for more information.

Women religious have served the Church well throughout the centuries.  They have beeen school teachers, prayer warriors, dedicated Saints and servants of nun2God.  We need more young women to answer the call of Christ to be His bride.  Women religious serve the Church today in a variety of ministries and venues.  Click here for the diocesan women religious vocation directorsFor a complete list of the various women religious communities in the United States click here.

1st Penance/Communion/Confirmation

1st Penance & 1st Communion

Faith Formation has the honor of preparing our youth to receive the sacraments from our Lord.  We prepare 2nd grade students for the Sacraments of Penance and Holy Eucharist.  We also prepare high school students for Confirmation.

Holy Spirit_Fire_and_Dove

Faith Formation also has the responsibility of welcoming non-Catholics into the faith via the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism (if necessary); Eucharist; and Confirmation. In addition to welcoming new members to the Church we also prepare adults who were not Confirmed for that Sacrament as well.

We strongly encourage all families and especially those receiving the sacraments to spend additional time in prayer preparing the heart for the grace of Christ.
