What is Confirmation?
The Sacrament of Confirmation seals the Confirmand with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we are able to live the Gospel more fully. The gifts of wisdom, counsel, knowledge, understanding, piety, fear of the Lord, and fortitude enable us to spread and defend the Catholic faith as full members of His Church. This sacrament is the last sacrament of initiation and completes the work that began in the Christian at baptism. It invites the Holy Spirit into our lives so that our mission may be more in union with the mission of Christ and His Church.
Confirmation is not "making a choice" or the "completion of religious education" but rather the acceptance of a mission. The mission is to spread the Good News of salvation to the entire world by our words and actions.
